MARCH CAMP

Would you believe that PC started marching in March? Yeah I know, lol, really lame Brandon. Well it was an interesting weekend and by far the most fun I had all month. In just over 2 days, we managed to learn about 30 pages of drill. From what I have seen so far of the show, I really like it.

Cymbal line got a special treat at our last camp. New cymbals, but not just any cymbals... SABIAN SYNERGY cymbals. These things measure 21" across and weigh (according to a really bad scale I found at the high school) 8 1/2 lbs. each! These things are really loud and cut through like no other. I love these things! Thank you sabian. www.sabian.com

February CAMP

so it started with rain. it was kind of weird because all the days leading up were really nice. it rained off and on, not so much that it wasnt a productive camp, just enough to be annoying. the cymbal line got a lot of new music. we have close to 120 bars of the opener we had to go through. the goal of the weekend was to play through the opener as a corps so we could record it and get a copy to the visual staff, plus it is always good to hear what it sounds like live. i cant begin to tell you how many times i have written a piece for a drumline on finale and had it sound really cool, only to hear it live and realize that it doesnt sound that great. we accomplished this goal at about 5pm Sunday evening.

the whole corps got fitted for pants this camp too...black pants....not white....black. i am very glad we are getting this new look and i think it is a good idea.

the colorguard showed up for auditions on sunday. it looked like a good turnout. i saw them a few times spinning in the distance but i didnt really get a chance to watch them.

i did however, get a chance to listen to the front ensemble. they are doing a great job so far. it is really cool to have a drumset in there.

it was a good weekend and we got a lot done.

see you in March!

PC January Camp/ Audition Weekend

This past weekend was boat loads of fun. A lot of people showed up to audition. The competition is grueling this year. The corps is off to a good start and i think it is going to be a great year. Saturday was the time to do individual things for percussion. Snares got to show there stuff as well as tenors and basses. Cymbals spent the whole day working on technique.

Sunday was when all that hard work on Saturday showed up. After a visual block in the morning, it was off to lunch and then back for more cymbal sectionals.

Monday was the last day of the audition weekend, and for the people that made it, it was a great experience.

Thanks to all that tried out! I will see you all in February.

2006 Program Announcement

Pacific Crest proudly announces their 2006 program,
From the City of Angels.

With their flair for Noir and their Los Angeles location, Pacific Crest is such a natural to perform the jazzy, brooding City of Angels that some fans will be left asking, "What took you so long?"

Others will wonder, "What unique innovations will Pacific Crest bring to a classic tale of beautiful women, sinister men, and darkened streets where anything can happen?"

Audiences will have to wait until the summer to see the full story unfold, but Program Coordinator Dale Leaman promises, "A new look, a new sound, and a crowd-pleasing show filled with more twists and turns than Mulholland Drive."
