What are quads?
Quads are a set of drums most commonly found in marching or rudimental percussion, examples would be high school and college marching bands, indoor percussion ensembles, and drum and bugle corps. This setup will consist of 4 to 6 drums with the most common number of drums being 5.
4 drum sets are base models and evolved from trios or tri-toms, all quads with 5 or 6 drums will have the same 4 drums, the only difference being the addition of 1 or 2 "spock" or "shot" drums. While the number of drums may vary the common name for these tonal tenor drums are Quads.... or in other words,
if you don't know don't ask!
