Three to choose from, two exercises and one piece of transcribed music from Phantom. I might be showing favoritism for old things or showing how old I am. Don’t think of them as old or dusty, think of them as having a nice patina:
• a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period. • a gloss or sheen on a surface resulting from age or polishing. “the dining table will acquire a warm patina with age”
#1 is the snare part to the 1996 Phantom show. The transcription is from 3:55 to 4:17.
#2 is a spree from a corps that’s no longer around. After the Marion Cadets and Cincinnati Glory merged in 2000 this appeared.
#3 is another exercise, this from the Bluecoats. I think we were handed this in the winter of 2000.

This is the paradiddle exercise mentioned in S1, E1 with some variations. The audio is a single tempo just to help with the timing of the 12’s and 5 over 4 bar. You can download the PDF music with the variations in sticking and accents here: LINK

This lick is actually a complete cadence written a long time ago – Cadence One – written for 5 basses and a group of hardcore mofo’s. You can learn more about it by listening to the latest episode. You can also download the complete score for it: LINK
